WORKSHOP VENUE FOR SATURDAY 17 MARCH, 2018: Mount Waverley Youth Centre main hall. Next door to our normal workshop venue.
We had a very successful result with our raffles at the last workshop for the year. The raffle for the Minimum World Vouchers – organised by Karen B., raised $127.50 and the Christmas Shop donated by Judy K. raised $134.75. All the proceeds from these raffles will be sent on to the Mirabel Foundation. Thank you to both Judy & Karen and thank you to all of you who supported this very worthy cause by buying tickets in the raffles.
We are putting together another order for the VAME Aprons you may have seen around the workshop. Please see the order form under the ‘SALE’ heading above.
VALE: Jess Tomlinson
Our very dear friend and long -time VAME member Jess Tomlinson passed away this week. Jess suffered a severe stroke about 10 days ago and slipped away peacefully on Thursday last. She has been surrounded by all her family in that time. Jess was a wonderful seamstress and she transferred her skills of sewing, smocking and knitting to her miniatures – we have loved seeing the family wedding dresses duplicated in miniature over the years – they were very beautiful. Jess loved her family and was much loved in return by them all and she will be greatly missed by them. Jess will also be missed by us miniaturists – she was always good for a chat and she was a lovely lady who was always kind and caring and interested in everyone around her – she has been part of VAME since it started. Our sincere condolences go to Jan Stillard and her extended family – our workshops won’t be quite the same anymore.
Bookings and deposits are now due for our Weekend away from May 25 to 27, 2018. Please go to the Weekend Away page (Under ‘EVENTS’) to download the application form. Remember the deposit is due at the workshop next Saturday October 21. Paypal is also available on the Weekend Away page of this website.
Yesterday we had our AGM and our new committee was elected. Please thank you to Madeleine B. who has resigned from the Committee and welcome to the new members.
On 16 September 2017 I will be resigning from my job as website person for VAME. I will hand over to Susan Chr. who has a great grasp of the whole website already. I am sure she will take us to a new level of efficiency. Please don’t hesitate to go up to her and make yourself known. Thank you Susan, for offering your time and effort.
Robyn T. has organised the advertising for the show this year. She has arranged an interview with the ABC news radio (with Andrea) last week and today they wrote an article about the VAME show. To see it, click here:
Christine K. (Queensland) has been busy over the last few months and she has sent us photos of her last finished projects:
Annette S. has finished her potting bench. Isn’t it gorgeous? Thank you for sending us the photo, Annette.
Minimum world is a huge online miniature shop in the UK. They have been very generous in offering us two wonderful gift vouchers, worth
£50 (appr. $80 Australian Dollar) each. They will be raffled off at our upcoming VAME workshops. They have also very kindly offered a 10% discount to all VAME members for the week after the raffle so make sure to come to the workshops and check out this space, details will follow.
