The 2017 show has now finished after a busy and enjoyable weekend and the planning begins for the 2018 show!
This year we displayed many projects created for our Container Challenge and a large variety of other projects. Our traders, some of them new to us, brought some great stock to tempt us and the VAME Traders table gave our members a chance to sell some of their own fantastic creations.
The 2018 VAME show will be held on 14 and 15 July 2018, please see the ‘Fairs and Shows’ page for details.
The 2017 VAME Container Challenge was all about making a miniature scene in a container of choice. As you can see, this generated a huge variety of ideas:
Many VAME members make more than one project a year,
so here is a look at what else they did:
As Victoria is a big state, several VAME members who live close(r) together, make up their own sub-group. The groups often make several projects a year and also a VAME show display.
The W.W.W. (Wondrous Weekend Wenches) ladies made several group projects:
The Kabuchons made a spectacular display for the VAME show;
a special row of houses with a time story:
6 am: Mr B. is having his wash and getting dressed while Mrs B. is feeding the baby and putting the kettle on for a cuppa. Outside, the milk has been delivered and the paper boy has just delivered the daily Sun.
8.30 am: All has been hustle and bustle inside the house. After seeing Mr B. and Hazel off to work, Mrs B. puts the boys’ lunches in their satchels before waving them off to school.
10.30 am: Mrs B. has been doing the washing and, as the day is so fine, is out the back hanging it out while the girls play. Outside, the postman is whistling cheerily as he walks down the path to the front door with a parcel.
12.30 pm: Lunch time!. Mrs B. has put baby Susan down after her lunch time feed and little Gwen is helping her mummy lay the table. Ah, she can hear Mr B. coming in through the gate so Mrs B. puts the tea in the pot whilst the kettle whistles on the stove.
2 pm: Coming down the street is Mrs Kathryn Pugh pushing her pram with baby Fred and little Betty trotting at her side. They are coming to visit Mrs B. for the afternoon.
4 pm: Mrs Pugh has gone with her kiddies but the boys are back from school and have rather naughtily thrown their bicycles down on the front lawn before going inside wolfing down cool drinks and cakes.
7 pm: Dad is home and is helping the boys with their homework at the kitchen table while Mrs B. puts little Gwen to bed. Baby Susan is gurgling happily in her cot.
11 pm: Hazel and her boyfriend have been to the local pictures and are saying a fond goodnight at the door. Inside, Mr and Mrs B are having a hot cocoa while listening to the radio.
The Sugargums have also been very busy in 2017. They made several group projects and have made prototypes for the VAME 2017 October workshop:
The Tiny Tarts decided to base their VAME show display around a story book. Each had a different story in mind: Dr Seuss, Pinocchio, Mary Poppins, Cinderella and one Tiny Tart member couldn’t decide on which fairy tale she liked best so combined them in one single big tower:

Another big show display was made by a VAME husband and wife team, combining their love of miniatures and enthusiasm for model railways.
And last but not least, a few jokes spotted around the show 😉
We hope you had just as much fun looking at all our displays as we had creating them.
See you all next year!
